Sendle Cover and Extra Cover

Getting your parcel delivered safely is our favourite thing to do. But sometimes, things don’t go to plan—and that’s where Sendle Cover (and Extra Cover) comes in.

Every eligible parcel you send with Sendle includes free cover* up to $100 (including GST). And if your item is worth more, you can easily add Sendle Extra Cover for parcels valued up to $1,500.

*Return parcels are not eligible for cover.

What's included with Sendle Cover?

Sendle Cover is automatically included with every eligible domestic and international parcel—no extra charge. Here’s what it covers:

  • Up to $100 (including GST) for the value of the item
  • The cost of delivery

To be eligible:

  • You must be the sender (claims can’t be made by parcel recipients)
  • Your account must be in good standing
  • The order must have been created through your Sendle dashboard
  • The parcel must not be a return

📅 Claims for damaged items are only eligible if the parcel was sent on or after 25 May 2020, when our updated policy came into effect.

Sendle Cover is an addition to our Sendle Terms and Conditions, which apply unless stated otherwise.

Need More Cover? Add Sendle Extra Cover

If you're sending something worth more than $100, you can purchase Extra Cover when you book your parcel.

  • Extra Cover costs $1.95 for each additional $100 of value, up to a maximum of $1,500
  • You’ll still get the first $100 of cover free (as always)

Example:
Want to cover your parcel for $300?
That’s $3.90 for the extra $200 cover ($1.95 × 2)

Don’t worry—you don’t need to do the maths. The Extra Cover amount is automatically calculated when you book your parcel.

Heads up: To make a claim, you must be a Sendle customer in good standing and have created the delivery order from your account (you cannot claim cover as the recipient of a parcel if you did not create the order).

How to add Extra Cover

Adding Extra Cover is easy:

  1. Start booking your parcel from your Sendle dashboard.
  2. When you reach the ‘Covered value’ field, enter the amount you’d like to cover your parcel for.
  3. The cost of Extra Cover will appear next to the field so you know exactly what you’re paying.

Claiming Cover: What You’ll Need

To make a successful claim (for either lost or damaged parcels), your order must meet all of the following requirements.

Your parcel:

Sendle has:

  • Confirmed the parcel as lost or damaged after an investigation

Your claim:

  • Is lodged within the required timeframes
  • Includes all required documentation

Definitions explained:

  • "Lost" means the parcel was unable to be found or located after an investigation by Sendle. This includes circumstances where Sendle reasonably believes that the parcel has been lost in transit and is declared as lost by the Sendle Team.
  • Damaged” means the contents of the parcel has been materially impaired with respect to its value or function during delivery by Sendle or any subsequent authorised carrier of the parcel.
  • "Correctly packaged and labelled" means that you must follow Sendle’s packaging guidelines. This ensures that your items are protected during transit. If your items are found to not have been packaged adequately, your claim may not be approved.

Claim Timeframes and Requirements

Type of claim When to lodge What you'll need
Lost parcel Make an initial enquiry within 20 business days of the final ETA date. Lodge your claim within 10 business days of receiving the email confirming cover eligibility. Documents proving the value of the parcel contents, and evidence of adequate packaging and proper labelling.

Important things to note
