If you’d like to manage shipping, quoting, and tracking directly from your online store, Sendle’s API can help make things easier. It’s a fast, flexible way to automate your shipping—right from your own platform.
You can build the API into your store in just a few hours (though we recommend working with a professional web developer to do this part smoothly).
Here’s how to get started:
1. Read Sendle's API Terms and Conditions
Please read the Terms and Conditions and the Website User Agreement before integrating Sendle's API – it might take a few more minutes but it’s important!
2. Integrate the API with your store
This is where your developer steps in! They can use our Sendle Developer Hub to build the API into your website or store platform.
3. Test it out in the API Sandbox
Once the integration is underway, your developer can use our API Sandbox to test how everything works—before going live.
You’ll also need to use a Stripe test card to enter credit card details in test mode.
4. Generate your API key
To get access to Sendle's API, you'll need your API key (this is a unique password for your account, so it's important to keep it safe and secret).
This is how you generate it:
- Sign in to your Sendle dashboard
- Go to Settings
- Click on the API tab
- You will be prompted to update the details on your account including:
- Update your Sending Details and accept the Dangerous Goods Declaration
- Fill in your account information under the Account tab
- Add your credit card details on the Billing contact page
Once these details have been added, on the API tab you'll be able to agree to the terms and Enable API access
Regenerating your API key
Need a new key? No problem.
Just click Regenerate API key in the same spot.
Heads up:This will deactivate your old API key, so you’ll need to reconnect any existing integrations with the new one.
Using Sendle with your eCommerce platform
If you're using platforms like Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, eBay, Maropost, or Magento, you may not need a custom API integration.
