Sendle has a dedicated A4 Satchel sending option that that gives you the most simple, affordable way yet to send smaller items. And the best part is, there’s no need to prepay or bulk-buy our most affordable option – simply pay for what you send.

Below is all the information you need to know to send using the A4 Satchel option in your Sendle dashboard.

One option in the dashboard, more ways to ship

When you select the Satchel option in the Sendle dashboard, you have the following options:

The Unlimited Satchel

  • If it Fits, It Ships
Now, when you use Sendle’s home compostable A4 Satchels, there’s no longer a 500g weight limit. As long as your shipment fits within our A4 sized satchel (335mm x 245mm), you can send it for the same low rate as sending 500g to same city or national zones.
  • Packaging requirements
To take advantage of The Unlimited Satchel, you must use Sendle’s home compostable A4 Satchels, available now through our satchel store. Please take precautions when packing. Our satchels are built to be durable (not invincible). Overstuffing may cause them to break. Find all our packaging guidelines here
  • Costs associated with The Unlimited Satchel
The Unlimited Satchel can be sent for the same low rates as our 500g / A4 satchel, starting at $4.95 (ex. GST). Learn more about our latest Sendle Price Guarantee here
  • Is a signature included?
All satchels, including The Unlimited Satchel, are automatically labelled as "Authority to Leave", which means that they do not require a signature. If you require a signature or personalised instructions, please choose another (bigger) parcel size.
  • Pickup limitations
Pickups not currently available in Hobart, Launceston, Latrobe Valley, Mackay, Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Cairns, Bendigo and Albury, Northern Rivers.

Sendle’s A4/500g Satchel option using your own packaging

  • Size and weight requirements
You can use your own packaging with our Satchel A4/500g option, with size and weight limitations. Satchels can be as big as A4 size (355mm x 220mm), weigh up to 500g and be under 2L (0.002m3). A small box can also be used as long as it would fit in an A4 sized satchel if tested, weighs under 500g and is less than 2L (0.002m3).
  • Costs associated with the A4 / 500g satchel
Satchels can be sent for low flat-rates, starting from $4.95 (ex GST). This includes the pickup, tracking and fuel levies (you can also get a quick estimate quote from your dashboard, or view all pricing for satchels here).
  • Is a signature included?
Anything booked under Satchel A4/500g (whether it’s a satchel or a box)  is automatically labelled as "Authority to Leave", which means that they do not require a signature. If you require a signature or personalised instructions, please choose another (bigger) parcel size.
  • Packaging requirements
The ‘satchel’ must be A4 Size (355mm x 220mm). You can buy A4 satchels from your favourite packaging or office supply shop, but it can also be a box or a soft bag (padded is fine).

The finer details

  • Are satchel labels pre-paid?
There’s no need to prepay or bulk-buy. When you book online, you’ll be given a label to download and attach to your satchel. The best part is that you only pay for what you book.
  • What cover is available?
Sendle Cover is available for every parcel you send through Sendle, whether you’re using your own packaging or Sendle’s packaging. The level of coverage is the same for every size option on Sendle. Read more here.
  • Are Sendle’s satchels express or overnight?
Satchels are sent by road, so delivery is not guaranteed to be express. However, for same-city deliveries, we typically expect things to arrive by the next business day (and within 2-3 days for interstate parcels).
  • If your item fits into a satchel but weighs more than 500g… can it be booked as a satchel?
If you’re using Sendle’s home compostable A4 Satchels, as long as your item fits, there are no weight requirements. If you’re using your packaging and your item is bigger than 500g, it must be booked as a handbag size or above (depending on the weight and volume). You also need to choose a bigger size if your parcel is bigger than the A4 satchel (355mm x 220mm), even if it weighs less than 500g.
  • Can a box or container go in the satchel?
Yes, provided that the A4 satchel can close and is no bigger than 355mm x 220mm.
  • Can a small box be sent as a satchel size?
Yes, as long as it would fit in an A4 sized satchel if tested, weighs under 500g and is less than 2L (0.002m3).
