Sendle has a dedicated 500g A4 satchel sending option for smaller, lighter items. And the best part is, there’s no need to prepay or bulk-buy our most affordable option – simply pay for what you send.
Heads up: the item you send doesn’t have to be packaged in an actual satchel – it just needs to meet the size requirements.
Below is all the information you need to know to send using the 500g A4 satchel option.
- Size and weight requirements
Your satchel can be as big as A4 size (355mm x 220mm), weigh up to 500g and be under 2L (0.002m3).
- Costs associated with the 500g A4 satchel
Satchels can be sent nationwide for low flat-rates, starting from $6.80. This includes the pickup, tracking, GST and fuel levies (you can also get a quick estimate quote from your dashboard, or view all pricing for satchels here).
- Is a signature included?
Satchels are automatically labeled as "Authority to Leave", which means that they do not require a signature. If you require a signature or personalised instructions, please choose another (bigger) parcel size.
- Packaging requirements
The ‘satchel’ must be A4 Size (355mm x 220mm). You can buy A4 satchels from your favourite packaging or office supply shop, but it can also be a box or a soft bag (padded is fine).
- Are satchel labels pre-paid?
There’s no need to prepay or bulk-buy. When you book online, you’ll be given a label to download and attach to your satchel. The best part is that you only pay for what you book.
- What cover is available?
Cover is available for satchels. The level of coverage is the same for satchels as for every other size on Sendle. Read more here.
- Are Sendle’s satchels express or overnight?
Satchels are sent by road, so delivery is not guaranteed to be express. However, for same-city deliveries, we typically expect things to arrive by the next business day (and within 2-3 days for interstate parcels).
- If your item fits into a satchel but weighs more than 500g… can it be booked as a satchel?
Short answer: no. If your item is bigger than 500g, it must be booked as a shoebox size or above (depending on the weight and volume). You also need to choose a bigger size if your parcel is bigger than the A4 satchel (355mm x 220mm), even if it weighs less than 500g.
- Can a box or container go in the satchel?
Yes, provided that the A4 satchel can close and is no bigger than 355mm x 220mm.
- Can a small box be sent as a satchel size?
Yes, as long as it would fit in an A4 sized satchel if tested, weighs under 500g and is less than 2L (0.002m3).
