Sendle Canada, Inc. and its affiliates (collectively, “we, “our” or “us”) value and recognise the importance of your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Sendle deals with your personal information in accordance with the law, including how we collect, use and disclose your personal information.

Privacy Policy Updates

This Privacy Statement is current as of the “updated” date which appears at the top of this page.  We may make changes to this Privacy Statement from time to time, which will become immediately effective when published in a revised Privacy Statement posted on our website unless otherwise noted.  We may also communicate the changes through our services or by other means. 

Please review this Privacy Policy carefully.  By submitting your personal information to us, by registering for or using any of the services we offer, by using our website, or by voluntarily interacting with us, you consent to our collecting, using and disclosing your personal information as set out in this Privacy Policy, as revised from time to time.

Meaning of personal information

"Personal information" means information about an identifiable individual as described under Canadian privacy laws, which may include, but is not limited to, your name, e-mail address and telephone number. Personal information does not include any business contact information that is solely used to communicate with you in relation to your employment, business or profession, such as your name, position name or title, work address, work telephone number, or work email address. Personal information also does not include information that has been anonymised or aggregated in such a way that there is no serious possibility it can be used to identify an individual, whether on its own or in combination with other information.

Your Consent to Collection, Use and Disclosure

We collect, use and disclose your personal information with your consent or as permitted or required by Canadian privacy laws.  How we obtain your consent may be express or implied and will depend on the circumstances, as well as the sensitivity of the information collected.  If you choose to provide personal information to us, we assume that you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of that personal information as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

If you wish to withdraw your consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your personal information, please contact us using the contact information in the “Privacy Officer, Sendle Support” section below.  In some cases, withdrawal of your consent may mean that we will no longer be able to provide certain products or services.

Collection

For individuals located in Canada, Sendle collects the information that is necessary to provide our services to you and you decide how much information you provide. Information is only shared with others as described in this Privacy Policy and our Privacy Collection Statement.

Your Sendle Account

When you create a Sendle account, the privacy setting is defaulted to private. Your information will only become public if you change the setting to public. Your account can only be accessed with your user ID and password.

In order to create a Sendle account we require your email address, and a password. You may choose to include additional information in your account, such as your phone number and if you do it will be kept private to the account holder. You may choose to link a social media account to your Sendle account.

Sendle contacts

Once you are a Sendle account holder, you may include third-party information into your personal contact list. All contact lists remain private to you, in the same way that your email contact list remains personal to you. Where an account has multiple Users, all users attached to the account will have access to the contact list.

Benefits partners

Sendle has formed partnerships where Sendle customers can access rewards or benefits of our benefits partners. We will collect information voluntarily from you (such as membership numbers) so that we can facilitate any benefits or rewards for you.

Website

For individuals located in Canada who visit our website at www.sendle.com or any of our related websites, (collectively, “our website”), we may collect information from you or from your activities on the site.

Like most websites and other Internet services, we may collect certain technical and device information about your use of our website, which may include your Internet protocol address, information about your device, browser and operating system, and the date and time of your visit, as well as the region or general location where your device is accessing the internet, and other information about the usage of our website, including a history of the pages you view.

If you enter information in the “Contact Us” section, we collect your name, email address, company you represent and details of your inquiry to enable us to respond to a general/business inquiry made by you on behalf of your company.

Use and disclosure

Sendle uses your personal information first and foremost to provide and support our services to you. Other purposes for which we may use personal information include:

(i) to improve customer service,

(ii) to advertise and promote our services to users, including events, new features and competitions;

(iii) for marketing and promotional activities, including those conducted by our reward partners;

(iv) analyse the needs and activities and monitor the usage of our services by our customers to help us better serve them

(v) collecting opinions and comments about our services

(vi) generating de-identified data to conduct research and analysis related to our business and services;

(vii) investigating legal claims; and

(viii) for other such purposes

We may use your personal information for purposes for which we have obtained your consent, and for such other purposes as may be permitted or required by applicable Canadian privacy laws. We will process, collect, use, and disclose information received through our website only to pursue our legitimate business interests in keeping you updated on our services and products, respond to your queries, establish communication with you and your company, and to enhance user experience by analysing your use of our website.

You are able to unsubscribe from our newsletters at any time. We will endeavour to respond to your opt-out request promptly, but we ask that you please allow us a reasonable time to process your request.  Please note that if you opt-out from receiving marketing-related emails, we may still need to send you communications about your use of our products or services, or other matters.

Sendle does not sell, or rent any of your personal identification information to others. We will not disclose your personal information to any third-parties other than when required by law or set out in this privacy statement. Sendle does not disclose information outside of Canada, other than to international hosting providers or for the purposes of delivering a parcel, which is only with your consent.

Your banking information

We use a third-party provider to process payments, which will require you to provide your banking information directly to them. Sendle does not store any credit card information.

Delivery addresses

If you link a delivery address to your account, it will only be available to other users if you provide them with your contact details, Sendle ID or provide them with consent on request.

The following information will be disclosed on the label of a package being sent:

  • Sender’s name, address and instructions 
  • Receiver's name, address and instructions 
  • Size and user reference.

Sendle uses third party delivery providers to deliver packages, who will have access to the information on the package label, for the sole purpose of delivering the package. Delivery Providers may also have access to the phone number of the person receiving the package. If you include a personal message with your package, the message will not be visible on the package label. 

Order details

Details of an order can only be seen by the sender and receiver by logging into an account, or through a personalised, encoded URL.

Multiple account users

If you attach more than one user to your Sendle account, all users on the account will be able to view each other’s orders.

Benefits partners

We will disclose certain information to our benefits partners so that you may obtain any benefits available to you. This information varies between our benefits partners but includes information such as account or membership numbers, your name, and your use of Sendle's service. We will also share aggregate information with our benefits partners so that we can monitor our relationship with them.

How else we may share your personal information

If we provide information to service providers as set out above, we require that the service providers keep your personal information secure, and only handle it for limited purposes.  We do not authorise the service providers to disclose your personal information to unauthorised parties or to use your personal information for their direct marketing purposes. 

We may share your personal information with our affiliates, Sendle USA Inc. and Sendle Pty Ltd., who may also use and share said personal information for the purposes set out above.

In addition, we may transfer your personal information and other information to a third party in the event of any reorganisation, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, brands, affiliates, subsidiaries or other assets.

Additionally, we may use and disclose your information when we believe such use or disclosure is permitted, necessary or appropriate: 

(a) under applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence; 

(b) to comply with legal process; 

(c) to respond to requests from public and government authorities, including public and government authorities outside your country of residence; 

(d) to enforce the terms of the agreements for our products and services; 

(e) to protect our rights, operations or property; 

(f) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain. 

If we otherwise intend to disclose your personal information to a third party, we will identify that third party and the purpose for the disclosure, and obtain your consent.

Storage and Retention of your information

Your personal information may be stored and processed at our offices in Australia, United States or Canada or at the offices of our third party service providers. Other jurisdictions may have different data protection rules than Canada. While your personal information is outside of Canada, it is subject to the laws of the country in which it is located.  Those laws may require disclosure of your personal information to authorities in that country. We will hold your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which that personal information was collected and as permitted or required by Canadian privacy laws. We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information and order information stored via our Site. Despite the measure outlined above, no method of information transmission or information storage is 100% secure or error-free, so we unfortunately cannot guarantee absolute security.  If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for example, if you feel that the security of any information that you provided to us has been compromised), please contact us immediately using the contact information in the “Privacy Officer, Sendle Support” section below.

If an account is deleted we'll still need to hold on to some information about past orders for our own records.

Non-personal identification information

We may collect non-personal identification information about you whenever you interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about your means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers you use and other similar information.

Web browser cookies

As with most websites, we may use "cookies" to enhance your experience. Cookies do not cause damage or harm your system and are used to assist you with our site. You may choose to alter personal web browser settings so as to refuse cookies, or to provide alerts when cookies are being sent. However, if cookies are blocked some parts of the site may not function properly.

Third-party websites

You may find content on our Site that links to the sites of other third parties. If you access linked sites, you do so at your own risk. We do not operate or control these third party sites and we are not responsible for their content, operation, privacy, accuracy or security policies.

Access, correction and complaints

It is important that your information is accurate at all times so we ask that you notify us of any changes that arise. You may make a written request to review any personal information about you that we have collected, used or disclosed, and we will provide you with any such personal information to the extent required by applicable laws.  You may also challenge the accuracy or completeness of your personal information in our records. If you successfully demonstrate that your personal information in our records is inaccurate or incomplete, we will amend the personal information as required.
